Natania’s journey into wig-making began with a deep sense of frustration and discomfort. As an Orthodox Jew, she first started wearing a wig when she got married, but she hadn’t anticipated just how different it would make her feel. She discovered that she’d lost the freedom to run her fingers through her hair or change her hairstyle to suit her mood—she had lost a piece of her identity. The wig made her feel suffocated and trapped in something that didn’t feel like her at all. Hair is such a powerful expression of individuality, after all, and Natania hadn’t realized just how much wearing a wig would impact her sense of self.

Unwilling to accept this situation, Natania decided to take matters into her own hands. She picked up a cheap wig from Camden Town and started experimenting, tweaking it until it felt more like her. What began as a personal project soon caught the attention of her friends, who started asking her to work on their wigs too.

Recognising that she had a knack for this work, Natania decided to formalize her skills. She trained in wig-making and eventually opened her home salon, Rafaelie Wigs, where she now crafts custom hairpieces tailored to each woman’s unique needs and personality. Her bespoke, out-of-the-box service has become her hallmark, with clients traveling from out of town and even overseas to benefit from her expertise and personalised care.

In this Insights section of the website, we’ll be sharing stories of more women who’ve had their confidence bolstered or restored thanks to Natania’s creations—each one a testament to her talent and her commitment to making every woman feel like herself again. These are stories of transformation and empowerment, all made possible by Natania’s extraordinary gift for wig-making.
